Coal seam gas explorer and developer Comet Ridge on Friday provided an operational update on the progress of the Mahalo 7 horizontal surface to in-seam well project. This well was drilled during the fourth quarter of 2014 in the ATP 337P Mahalo Block in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Myanmar: Thailand's PTT says Myanmar gas fields to shut for maintenance in April

Thailand's sole natural gas supplier PTT said on Thursday that three fields in Myanmar would be shut down for maintenance in April. Thailand uses natural gas to generate nearly 70 percent of its electricity, and about a fifth of its supplies are imported from Myanmar.

Linc Energy has provided an update on the drilling operations in the Arckaringa Basin. The Eba-1 vertical exploration well (PEL121) is the second of the three well program and is planned to be drilled to a total revised depth of approx. 2,900 metres.

Indonesia: BP expects investment decision on Tangguh LNG expansion in 2016

BP said on Thursday it expects to make a final investment decision (FID) next year on expansion of its Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Indonesia, which will add 3.8 million tonnes per year of new capacity.

Australia: Regulators grant approval for Norwest Energy's EP413 Arrowsmith seismic survey

Norwest Energy has received the required Federal and State government regulatory approvals to proceed with its planned Arrowsmith seismic survey. The survey will be conducted within exploration permit EP413 and will assist in defining the optimal location and target formation for Norwest’s first horizontal well Arrowsmith-3.

Australia/Canada: ACCC clears Woodside’s proposed acquisition of Apache's interests in the Wheatstone, Balnaves and Kitimat Projects

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has announced that it will not oppose Woodside’s proposed acquisition of Apache's interests in the Wheatstone, Balnaves and Kitimat Projects. The Wheatstone and Balnaves Projects are located in the Northern Carnarvon Basin, offshore WA, while the Kitimat Project is located in British Columbia, Canada.

Indonesia expects 60 pct increase in gas demand over next 5 years

Indonesia will need an additional 1,300 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas supplies within five years, to meet forecast demand from power stations and fertilizer plants, according to an energy ministry official.

Eneabba Gas has entered into a binding Heads of Agreement (HOA) with Greenpower Energy for an option to acquire 100% of the issued capital of Greenpower’s wholly owned subsidiary, GCC Methane. CGG has started acquiring the Davros 3D BroadSeis and BroadSource multi-client survey in the Northern Carnarvon Basin on the North West Shelf of Western Australia. Covering in excess of 11,000 km2, Davros is the largest seismic survey ever to be acquired by CGG in the Asia-Pacific region.
